The Cutting Edge of Sensing with Unmanned Aerial Systems in Earth Science
Principles, Applications, Operational Factors, Flying and Data Analysis
June 23-25, 2015 at Oregon State University
CTEMPs will offer a three-day hands-on workshop on the theory, application and analysis of data from unmanned areal vehicles for earth sciences. The workshop will accommodate a wide range of practitioners, from those interested in an introduction to the methods, to those wanting to learn state of the art in sensors, air-frames, and data processing.
Day 1 (June 23) UAS basics: safety, regulation, platform selection, sensors, and making them fly (field trip)
Day 2 (June 24) UAS mission planning: flight time, coordinates, georeferencing, and data flow
Day 3 (June 25) UAS data analysis: making sense of imagery, documentation and archiving
Instructors: Michael Wing, Jon Burnett, and John Selker
Sponsors: CTEMPs, via The National Science Foundation EAR Instrumentation and Facilities Program
Oregon State University; University of Nevada Reno
