The UAS Operations Workshop for environmental science applications offers practical information on UAS regulations, platforms, sensors, and software. A portion of the course will involve working with imagery from a UAS flight so that participants get applied remote sensing experience.
9:00 to 9:45 UAS applications and the regulatory flight environment in the US.
9:45 to 10:45 An overview of UAS platforms.
10:45 to 11:15 Coffee break and UAS equipment display.
11:15 to 12:00 UAS sensors I: LiDAR, Hyper-spectral, Visible, Micro-meteorological FLIR and DTS.
12:00 to 12:30 UAS Sensors II: Power, weight, cost, calibration, and anticipate future devices.
12:30 to 1:45 Lunch
1:45 to 2:45 UAS operations I: Planning a complete mission based on UAS speed, GPS waypoints, and battery management.
2:45 to 5:30 UAS flight demo.
9:00 to 10:15 UAS image processing I: Considerations and software.
10:15 to 10:45 Coffee break
10:45 to 12:30 UAS operations II: Ground control points and georeferencing.
12:30 to 1:45 Lunch
1:45 to 2:45 UAS image processing II: Hands-on Agisoft with visual and infrared imagery.
2:45 to 3:00 Coffee break
3:00 to 5:00 UAS image processing III: Quantitative analysis with Agisoft from day 1 UAS flights.
