Instruments

Currently, the CTEMPs is purchasing up to 4 Field Deployable DTS systems with an anticipated delivery of early 2010. Until these are available, the Center has access, on an as available basis, of several DTS systems operated by OSU and UNR. Please contact the Center to determine if these systems are available and fit your needs.

In addition to those instruments listed above, CTEMPs anticipates having the following instruments available for use beginning in March 2010. Priority will be given for standard deployment periods (6 weeks) for these instruments. CTEMPs anticipates having instruments dedicated solely for longer term deployments beginning in June 2010 and users are encouraged to contact CTEMPs to discuss deployment schedules.

Field deployable DTS system with standard (1 m) spatial resolution

This system consists of a 4 channel Sensornet Oryx DTS with 5km range and operating software. The system can be configured with 5 Crossbow/eKo remote weather stations, each with precipitation, solar radiation, wind speed, temperature and relative humidity sensors. Also included is a 3G compatible cell phone data link via Verizon network (SIM card provided) or on-board data storage. The system is enclosed in a weatherproof shelter. The standard system is shipped to operate on 110VAC. The system can equipped with 200 W solar panels for power in most applications (user must provide two 70 amp-hour deep discharge batteries).

The system also includes 10 stand-alone temperature loggers and reader, standard calibration bath coolers and mixing pumps.

Users may request additional sensors, loggers, weather stations, power and peripherals on the application page.

Laboratory high-resolution DTS system

This system consists of high spatial (0.25m) and temporal (1Hz) resolution DTS system for use in sites with environmental control (e.g., <40 C, < 90%R.H., >200W power). Contact CTEMPs for application requirements for this system.

DTS system with reduced (2 m) spatial resolution

This system consists of a dual channel Sensornet Halo 2m spatial resolution instrument suitable for laboratory or controlled field environments. This instrument is best suited for applications where the DTS is housed under environmental control, with 110VAC power available. Other configurations are possible; please contact CTEMPs for deployment options and availability.
